How to Step It Up - Simple Changes. Any Project. Any Stamper

Hello again!

Yay, it's the weekend!! This week has been wonderful full of lovely sunshine - after a long wet winter it finally feels like spring has arrived.

On Wednesday Mum and I went for afteroon tea at the country house at Stanmer Park near Brighton - it was delicious - we had oodles of tea, a selection of finger sandwiches (with the crust cut off), warm scones with clotted cream & strawberry jam and other tasty morsels. It was just wonderful spending some quality mother and daughter time!

Today, I'm bringing you three projects, the first is simple and ideal for new crafters, the second takes things to the next level with a couple of extra elements and is for casual crafters and the last builds on the previous cards but adds another layer, texture and heat embossing and is for avid crafters.
A very simple layout / sketch
A scalloped die cut behind the stamped layer and some sequins are added to the 2nd card.
Heat embossing and the embossed strip of vellum adds so much texture to the last card
Here are all 3 projects together - sorry for the poor photo quality! Don't you just love the copper foil

Butterflies and flowers with Beautiful Day

Hello again!

I hope you've had as good a week and weekend. As well as working and doing chores, I've spent a bit of time with family, catching up with friends and generally enjoying life - is that cheesy?

My monthly card classes took place on Thursday night and Saturday morning. I'm so blessed to be supported by some of my lovely friends. Four people came on Thursday and six on Saturday. Six is the maximum I can squeeze round my dining table!

Although I designed the projects last weekend, I ended up changing a couple during the week - I often doubt myself and am my harshest critic. Despite my worries everyone loved the cards and did an amazing job. I love sharing what I do and inspiring others - it is so rewarding.

Today I'm sharing the cards we made with the Beautiful Day stamp set from Stampin' Up! I'm so pleased this set is carrying over from the Spring / Summer Occasions catalogue into the new annual catalogue which will be available on 1 June 2018.

I made the flower card below for Thursday and on Friday made the butterfly card so my Saturday ladies had a choice. I used Shimmery White cardstock for the flower and butterfly because I wanted to use an aqua painter to colour them in.
I made various versions to show how easy it is to step up projects by changing the background with a mask, ink and sponge brayers or embossing paste and dazzling diamonds. You can also add texture with an embossing folder on its own or with ink or heat embossing with embossing powder. Using a bit of vellumribbon, glitter & clear enamel shapes or sequins add a lovely finishing touch.
I often struggle making exactly the same card over and over so for the video I made the card below which uses stamps from the gorgeous Butterfly Basics stamp set for the sentiment and background.
Recipe:-
Beautiful Day and Butterfly Basics stamp sets
Wisteria Wonder card base cut @ 10.5cm x 29.7cm scored at 14.8cm (one of the retiring colours 😭)
Basic Black cardstock cut @ 10cm x 14.3cm
Very Vanilla cardstock cut @ 10cm x 14.3cm (inside) & 9.5cm x 13.8cm (outside) + scrap for  sentiment
Shimmery White cardstock cut @ 7.5cm x 9cm
Tuxedo Black Memento, Elegant Eggplant, Wisteria Wonder and Old Olive inks
Pretty Label and Everyday Label punches
Glitter & Clear Enamel Shapes
Aqua painter
Clear Wink of Stella glitter brush
You can take a look at how I made the card by clicking on the video below. I confess I stamped, coloured and fussy cut the butterfly ahead of time as I didn't think anyone would be interested in watching me do that! I feel blessed and amazed that I have so many subscribers on my YouTube channel. I plan on organising a giveaway when I get to the 500 milestone!
Here's a quick photo of all of the cards together. - I'm pleased with them. Do you have a favourite?

Silver and Purple are a lovely combination - don't you think?

Hello there

I hope you've had a wonderful weekend?

I was a little sad to have missed out on attending the Stampin' Up! #OnStage2018 local event in Telford on Saturday which celebrated Stampin' Up!'s 30-year anniversary. I've been to the November OnStage events twice and absolutely loved them but never the one in April and I'm sure everyone who attended had an amazing time. They will have received a goodie bag full of wonderful new products plus a copy of the new annual catalogue as well as have a chance to do some make and takes. I have to wait until tomorrow for a sneaky peek and can't wait!

I hosted our monthly team (The Paper Mates) meeting on Wednesday as our lovely upline Victoria had visitors. We made a card using one of the foiled papers from Sale-A-Bration and also had a play with embossing paste, re-inkers and decorative masks. It was a perfect way to spend an evening catching up with friends and being creative - I love it!

I had every intention of filming and uploading a video for a blog post yesterday but i an out of time. I've got card classes / workshops this week and got distracted designing projects for that. My craft space looked like a total tip so I spent time earlier today organising so I'm later than planned with my blog and video today - sorry about that!

The card I'm sharing today is a clean and simple A6 card. Have you noticed purple is my favourite colour? I'm really pleased with the way it turned out.
I really like the font of the sentiment in the Ribbon of Courage set.
Products used:-
Painted Harvest and Ribbon of Courage stamp sets
Layered Leaves Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder
Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies
Leaf and Decorative Ribbon Border punches
Elegant Eggplant card base cut @ 21cm x 14.85cm scored at 10.5cm and a scrap
Smoky Slate cardstock cut @ 8.5cm x 13cm
Whisper White cardstock cut @ 8cm x 12.5cm and scraps for stamping the leaves and sentiment
Elegant Eggplant and Smoky Slate Classic Stampin' pads
Basic Rhinestones
Multipurpose Liquid Glue
Mini Glue Dots
Stampin' Dimensionals

As with most of my cards I used my precious Big Shot for the embossing and die-cutting. I would be really lost without that piece of kit.

Here's a video - this is the second one I've made that's been speeded up with a voiceover added. If you have time please leave a comment and let me know what you think either on my blog or on my YouTube channel.

13 years - lucky for some!

Hello friends

I hope you had a good Easter and managed to spend some quality time with friends and family. I cooked a lovely roast lamb for our parents on the Sunday. We all ate and drank too much but I'm rather proud to say we haven't yet touched the Easter Eggs!!

Monday was our 13th wedding anniversary. I met my husband in March 2001 and married at the beginning of April 2005. I can honestly say the time has flown and I . I started the day by looking through our wedding photo's but got a little sad as we have lost too many loved one's since. I had to shake it off and focus on the happy memories of a wonderful day spent with our nearest and dearest.

I wanted to share a photo of the card I gave to my husband using Timeless Textures and Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamps sets, both of which come in wood and clear mount. I also used Bloomin' Heart and Lovely Words Thinlits. As I used some of the amazing Silver Foil sheets for the heart I wanted  a touch of glitter so added a strip of Tear and Tape, sprinkled on a bit of silver glitter and voila!!
I added an extra video on my YouTube channel showing a different version of the 2-for-1 cards I made using the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set. Here are some photo's:-

Stampin' Up! Beautiful Bouquet cards - 2 for 1 technique

Hello friends

I'm bringing you some fun cards made using the wonderful Beautiful Bouquet stamp set from the current Stampin' Up! annual catalogue which you can download as a pdf here.

I love this technique as it's a quick way to create two clean and simple cards from one stamped piece.
With a new catalogue coming soon, I decided to use one of the retiring 2016-2018 In-Colors so the two A6 card bases are made from one A4 piece of Sweet Sugarplum cardstock cut @ 14.8cm and scored at 10.5cm. The stamped Whisper White layer is cut @ 10cm x 14.3cm and the aperture is cut using the Big Shot (one of my favourite cardmaking tools) and the second largest oval from the Layering Ovals Framelits Dies. Using Sweet Sugarplum, Blushing Bride, Rich Razzleberry, Fresh Fig and Lemon Lime Twist classic inks and keeping both pieces together the flowers and leaves are stamped so they go across the cut line of the oval.

One piece is used on each card with a matching stamped layer of Whisper White for the inside.
A few Glitter Enamel Dots add the finishing touch.
These colours are so lovely together.
I've made a video which you can watch below:-

Happy Easter everyone

Hey friends

I hope you are all well? I'm just back from a week's R&R in Gran Canaria - it was sooo lovely spending time with my gorgeous husband and friends relaxing in the sunshine. The UK is cold and gloomy by comparison!

So a quick share today of a couple of cards we made at class earlier this month. The first uses the gorgeous Blossoming basket bundle which is only available during Stampin' Up! Sale-A-Bration, which ends in a few days, although I believe the Basket Weave dynamic impressions embossing folder may be carrying over into the next annual catalogue.
This next card is a fun fancy fold. I really enjoy making different styles of card - this one is an easel card made from half a sheet of A4 cardstock. The "eggs" are made from a small balloon from the Balloon Bouquet punch and they're nestled in a basket made with one of the dies from the Window Box Thinlits set. I also used the largest of the squares and the smallest oval dies from the Stitched Shaped Framelits. The stamp sets I used are Wood Words, Timeless Textures and Teeny Tiny Sentiments which all come in wood and clear mount. A piece of Cherry Cobbler 1/4" Double Stitched Ribbon adds the finishing touch.
The side view shows how the card get's it's name. I was thinking about doing a video to show how easy and quick these type of cards are made.

Stampin' Up! and the new Stamparatus

Hi folks

It's the weekend - woohoo!  I hope you have all had a wonderful week.

A quick post from me today to share a couple of cards made using the Lovely Inside and Out and Flourishing Phrases stamp set and the amazing new Stampin' Up! Stamparatus.

I was lucky enough to order my Stamparatus in November and it was delivered last month.  I'm in love with this new stamping platform - it is unique in design and like all Stampin' Up! products made to a really high quality and is well worth the investment when the new annual catalogue is available from 1 May 2018.

This first card was one of the cards we made at my March monthly workshops.
This next card uses different sentiments from the Lovely Inside and Out stamp set. Both cards are simple one layer cards but I think they look great.
I made a video for the next card which you can click on below - do you have a favourite?
