Twist and Pop Up card using Stampin' Up products

Hi Friends

I hope you're having a good weekend. Tomorrow is a Bank Holiday in the UK so a lot of us have an extra day off, which is always lovely - I hope to spend some of it crafting.

I can now share the details of the card I made for a dear friend as she is celebrating her birthday today - I hope she likes it!

It's called a Twist and Pop Up card and there are lots of templates and examples on Pinterest and YouTube. I'm not sure who came up with the design originally but they are a real wow card - I love them!!

The card base is 10.5 cm x 28 cm scored at 14 cm (Tempting Turquoise)
On the front the matting layer is 10 cm x 13.5 cm (Basic Black)
Next matting layer is 9.5 cm x 13 cm (Irresistably Floral Designer Series Specialty Paper #141644).

The pop up section is 10 cm x 28 cm (Tempting Turquoise) scored at 7 cm, 14 cm and 21 cm
Matting layers are 6.5 cm x 9.5 cm (Basic Black)
Next layers are 6 cm x 9 cm (Irresistibly Floral DSP x 2 &Whisper White x 2)
Inside base matting layers are 10 cm x 9.5 cm (Basic Black x 2)
Next matting layers are 9.5 cm x 9 cm (Whisper White x 2)

The DSP is coloured with Tempting Turquoise classic ink and the inside stamping is Cucumber Crush and Basic Black ink.

The four panel pop up section is decorated with die cuts from the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies (#142749). Images from Kinda Eclectic Clear-Mount (#135350) and So in Love Clear-Mount (#143216) stamp sets are used on the inside panels and the sentiments are from Balloon Adventures Photopolymer (#142823) and Suite Sentiments (#140712) stamp sets.

The belly band is a 2 cm strip of Tempting Turquoise embellished with Layering Circle Framelits Dies (#141705) in Tempting Turquoise, Basic Black and Whisper White stamped with a sentiment from the Window Shopping Clear-Mount Stamp set (#143265) and one of the Brights Enamal Shapes (#141680).

Wow when it's all written down I can see how many different sets I've used!! Anyway, here's a very quick video which shows how the card opens. If you'd like to see a video of how I made it leave a comment below and I'll see if I can do one.

Some of the sets I've use are retiring at the end of May so if you like what you see act quick while stocks last because when they're gone, they're gone.

Global Design Project 084 - Case the Designer

Hi Friends

I thought I would play along with the Global Design Project again. This week it is Case the Designer and we are casing Michelle Last ... a very talented UK demo. Here's her gorgeous card .....

My card is totally inspired by her layout and like a lot of my cards is fairly simple with minimal colours but plenty of texture.

I love using Rich Razzleberry, Sweet Sugarplum and Whisper White as a colour combination and decided to use the elegant Petal Burst embossing folder to add texture to the background ( #141493 ) and one of the images from the lovely Beautiful You stamp set ( #143637 ).

I'm so happy with the frame, which was achieved with the Layering Oval Framelits ( #141706 ) and the Stitched Shaped Framelits ( #145372 ). I managed to sneak in a bit of the gorgeous glimmer paper that I earned for free during SAB.

SU Envelope Punch Board - envelope gift box for 4" x 4" cards

Hey there, it's been a little while!

I am in awe of anyone who finds time to blog every day .... I can't even do it once a week! I did get out of sync with our trip to Dorset and had technical issues but that's just excuses .... some days I just don't have time to craft.

My Mum-in-law (one of my best customers - she's a great supporter and loves my cards and hasn't got the patience to make them herself so buys from me) asked me for 10 blank cards so I put together two sets of five designs mostly using the retiring SU's Petite Petals stamp sets and matching punch. I'm going to miss them as I use them a lot.

Rather stupidly I forgot to take photo's apart from these two. I made a box for one set so Carol could give them to her cousin as a gift.  I tell you my head really hasn't been in the right space recently.

I had a fun crafty afternoon last Friday with my lovely friend and up-line Victoria after a spot of lunch. I played around with That's the Tag photopolymer bundle #144725. Victoria played with Home Sweet Home Thinlits Dies #140279 and made me this adorable beach hut - don't you just love it?

Anyway, it's getting late and I'm waffling.

My latest YouTube video shows one of the ways I package a set of cards if I'm giving them to friends and family as gifts. Here I use the SU Envelope Punch Board #133774 to create an envelope box for a set of 4" x 4" cards that I made using Affectionately Yours Specialty DSP #141632, Love & Affection stamp set #141545, Botanical Builder Framelits Dies #140625, Botanical Blooms stamp set #140757, Bold Butterfly Framelits Dies #138135, Butterflies Thinlits Dies #137360, the Scalloped Tag Topper punch #133324.

Masking Technique with Stampin' Up! Lovely as a Tree

Happy Easter guys - hope you've had a great time.

We had a short break camping in Dorset, me the hubby and Ollie, the collie, which was lovely. The Jurassic coast is absolutely beautiful and we were blessed with good weather so on Friday we walked West along the coastal path from our campsite in Seatown to Charmouth and back (approx 9 miles) -the next day we walked East to Bridport and West Bay (where Broadchurch was filmed) and on the way back to our site stopped off for a cream tea at a wonderful cafe on Downhouse Farm.

I had intended to make a video yesterday but I was a too relaxed and ended up falling asleep after supper! So today after a lovely lunch at a local pub with both sets of parents earlier today, I came home and made a video showing how easy it is to make a lovely card using the masking technique. I ended up making three cards.

The middle card is a basic single layer card which has one of the stamps from the Lovely as a Tree set #128655 in a circle created using a mask made with the largest circle die from the Layering Circle Framelits #141705. The other two have the same image but are stepped up versions where I added coloured card stock and some embellishments. I'm really pleased with the results.

Here's the video I made of the basic card. I've now got 80 subscribers on YouTube which is amazing. I'm trying to decide on what to do when I get 100 subscribers and think it will have to be a giveaway of some DSP and some other goodies!

Nailed It with Serene Scenery #GDP082

Hi Folks!

I'm playing along with the Global Design Project again today. This time it's a sketch challenge and here's a pic of my entry - sorry for the poor quality!

I haven't tried doing a sketch challenge before so hope this fits the criteria. It's a fairly simple card using some of the Serene Scenery DSP and a strip of Chocolate Chip card stock on a whisper white A6 card base. I love the designs in this paper pack and think this one works perfectly paired with the Nailed It stamp set and thinlits dies. I couldn't resist stamping the nails along the left hand edge in Basic Grey archival ink.

#GDP081 Colour Challenge

Happy Sunday!

It is a colour challenge at Global Design Project this week so I thought I'd play along for the first time!

The brief is to use Night of Navy, Whisper White and a free choice so this is what I made using Night of Navy card stock and whisper white for the inside panel, Stampin' Emboss white powder heat embossed and silver glimmer paper.

I've even made a quick video - I must admit that in the first version of this card I used a retired stamp set, which was a pain but at least I realised before I added a link to the Global Design Project page.

April's monthly card class

Just popping on to share a photo of the cards we made earlier tonight at my monthly card class for beginners.

We had a great evening. Three of my friends came to class this month. Nicky has supported me since the beginning and it was lovely to see her helping the other two who have never crafted before. They were all a bit camera shy so didn't want me to take their photo's during class and I'm a little annoyed I didn't take photo's of their cards at the very least because I loved the way they changed the designs slightly.

To see the look of achievement and pride on their faces when they finished all three cards was very satisfying and I know they will be back for more. #lovemyjob

Thanks for stopping by

A quick and easy card using SU products

Happy Sunday folks!

Can you believe it's April already ..... the weeks sure are flying by.

I am chuffed to bits with my new SU InkPad Rack KX made by Creations by Rod (www.creations-by-rod.co.uk). Great quality and at an affordable price - whats not to love! Rod makes a large range of inserts for the Ikea Kallax/Expedit but they can also be freestanding like mine.

Unfortunately, I wasn't around on the day Parcelforce wanted to delivery the racl so I arranged via automated SMS for delivery next day but that didn't work and I'm sure you can imagine how I felt when they admitted misplacing the parcel but eventually it was found and delivered. I have to say the young lady who I spoke to was really professional despite me taking my frustration out on her - poor girl.

On Friday my parents celebrated their Emerald Wedding Anniversary - 55 years together is a huge milestone so I made them this special card. The card base was 8in x 8in with matting layers in Emerald Envy then Whisper White. The larger flowers were stamped in Daffodil Delight and Blushing Bride using the Special Reasons stamp set, these and leaves are die cut using the Bigshot with the Stylist Stems Framelits dies - they come as a bundle so you can save 10% (#144720). The smaller flowers are stamped in Watermelon Wonder with the Petite Petals set (#133155) and cut with the matching punch (#133322). The other leaves are from the Botanical Builder Framelits dies (#140625).

Anyway, today is my wedding anniversary - 12 years together, forever to go! As I was away last weekend, we had both sets of parents over for Sunday lunch which was lovely. The hubby is now in bed so I've managed to get my Sunday video and blog finished - I must get more organised rather than leave these things to the last minute!

Today's demo is a quick and easy card using the Lovely Lace Textured Impressions Embossing folder (#133737). It really is lovely and this is a good way of using up smaller bits of card. The colours are from the Blooms & Bliss cardstock pack - Island Indigo, Mint Macaron and Sweet Sugarplum. These are layered onto a layer of Basic Black with a standard A6 Whisper White card base. The sentiment is stamped in Versamark on a hand torn strip of Basic Black and heat embossed in White Embossing powder. To finish it off I stamped three flowers in each of the colours using a flower from the Petite Petals stamp set and punched them out using the matching punch.

The first sample I made used a Basic Black card base but I think it's pops more on a white card base. I also made a card using the de-bossed side of the embossed panels - which do you like better?
